Make sure you have logged into Windows95/98 using your own network account. If you are logging on to Windows using someone else's name or guest,
you will be unable to gain access to your Exchange account.
1. Open up Outlook by double clicking on the "Microsoft Outlook" icon that appears on your desktop.
2. You will be prompted to "Choose Profile". Since this is the first time you are accessing your Exchange account, you must click on the New button.
3. This will start the "Inbox Wizard". Select only "Microsoft Exchange Server", as seen below. Click on the "Next" button.
4. The computer will ask you to create a Profile Name. Delete the text that appears in the Profile Name box and type in a Profile Name for yourself.
It is suggested that you use either your first or last name as your Profile Name, however you can use anything you like. Click on the "Next" button.
5. Under Microsoft Exchange Server, type in: mail
Under Mailbox, type in your first initial and your last name. Click on the "Next" button.
6. The Exchange mail server will not store your Personal Address Book (PAB) on the network as was done with MS Mail. Type in the following path to store your PAB locally:
C:\Exchange\yourfirst initial and last name.pab
7. Click on the "Next" button.
8. Click on the "Finish" button.
9. The computer will return you to the original dialogue box, which asks you to select a Profile. Your Profile name should already be selected. Click on the "OK" button to go into your Exchange account.
Emptying the Wastebasket Upon Exiting Option
1. Open Microsoft Outlook by double clicking on the icon.
2. Select 'Tools' on the task bar.
3. Under 'Tools,' choose 'Options.'
4. Select the 'General' tab.
5. Your screen should appear as below.
6. Check the box that reads; 'Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting.'
7. Hit 'Apply,' then hit 'Okay.'
Automatic Name Insertion When Replying and Forwarding
1. Open Microsoft Outlook by double clicking on the icon.
2. Select 'Tools' on the task bar.
3. Under 'Tools,' choose 'AutoSignature.'
4. Select the box that reads, 'Add this signature to the end of new messages.'
5. Type the desired text you which to appear at the end of your messages.
6. Hit 'Okay' when complete.
Closing Original Message When Replying or Forwarding
1. After sending a message, your original message should appear on your screen.
2. Close this original message by hitting the 'X' in the top right hand corner of your screen.
3. This 'X' will close the original message and return you to the view of your entire email account.

2. Choose 'File' on the task bar.
3. Under 'File,' choose 'Close.'
Automatic Spell Check Option
Open Microsoft Outlook by double clicking on the icon.
1. Select 'Tools' on the task bar.
2. Under 'Tools' choose 'Options.'
3. Under 'Options' choose the 'Spelling' tab.
4. Check the box that reads, 'Always check spelling before sending.'
5. Hit 'Apply' then hit 'Okay.'
Spell Check Sent Messages
1. Open Microsoft Outlook by double clicking on the icon.
2. Choose 'Tools' on the task bar.
3. Under 'Tools,' choose 'Options.'
4. Select the tab that reads, 'Spelling.'
5. Check mark the box that reads, 'Always spell check before sending.'
6. Hit 'Apply,' then hit 'Okay.'
Creating a Personal Folder to Store
1. In Outlook, click on the Tools pull down menu and select "Services".
2. Click on the "Add" button.
3. Select "Personal Folder" and click on "OK".
4. Change to directory from C:\Windows to C:\EXCHANGE directory. Under "File Name", type in : your first initial and you lastname.pst (example: bclinton.pst)
5. Click on the "Open" button.
6. Under "Name", it is suggested that you name this folder "Local Mail".
7. We strongly urge you to not supply a password for your personal folders. If you do, and you forget your password, there is no way to access the contents of the folder.
8. Click on "OK".
To Create Subfolders Under Your "Local Mail" folder:
1. Right-click on the Local Mail folder to display a submenu.
2. Select "Create Subfolder."
3. Type in the name for your new subfolder.
4. Click on "OK".
